Today, Rob and I were going to head back to Roland Garros since we had tickets while Peter and Ben were going to Versailles. We agreed to meet up together again at 8:30pm. Before heading out, Rob and I went pastry hunting.

On the pastry hunt, we saw an exposition out which talked about a lot of the political events around the world.

We ended up going to two shops. One sandwich place and the other one a panini place. We saved the sandwiches for the road.

My “blue steele” zoolander pose. After eating some pastries, we headed to Celio where I bought some pants and a nice long sleeve shirt. What was interesting was that I was stopped twice in the store by people asking where I got my gray track jacket from (my favorite one from express). It’s nice to know that you are wearing something that even the Parsians like fashionably.

When coming to Roland Garros, we sat at the practice courts, and guess who we see? Rafael Nadal 5 feet away!

His practice partner

Nadal up close video.

Picture of us at the practice court.

After watching Nadal for a while, I wanted to take a picture with me in the background with Nadal hitting so I moved over to the other side of the court where I took this picture.

Rob took a picture of me from the other side here.

While sitting on the other side, the two kids to the left of me in this picture starting speaking to me really quickly in French. I replied with “parlez vous anglais?” and then they started speaking to me in English. Looks like they wanted Nadal’s autograph when he was done, so I immediately took out some Roland Garros material. I think only the kids had the foresight that they might get an autograph.

Nadal actually signed his shirt he was wearing and gave it to someone.

Spoils of victory…

Yes!

Pointing to my only favorite tennis player out there.

Before heading out to the main match we watched a little bit of the girls quarters.

They’d kick my ass any day.

The next semi-finals match we were going to watch was Ivanovich vs Jankovic

According to what I hear, Ivanovich is hot haha.

Part of the video from the match. A weird observation we noticed was that if the cheering isn’t loud enough, they would generate fake applause from the speakers! Some things you never know unless you sit next to a speaker…

After the match i was seriously tired. A short nap here for me.

Rob and the courts.

A fascinating thing you don’t realize when watching the French Open is after each match they groom the courts.

After the match, Rob and I picked up some baguettes and headed over to Luxembourg Garden with the entire gang.

There were some cute ducks at the pond so we stopped by.

The gardens were really beautiful. I’ve actually never been to that area before.

Some building at the garden.

Fountain

Duck feeding. Those suckers can actually move quite quickly across the water.

Me being psychic, I react to getting hurt BEFORE actually getting hit.

Another beautiful picture.

After the stroll through the garden, we stopped by Monoprix (a market) to buy some cheeses, pate, and meats to have a picnic underneath the Eiffel Tower.

Look familiar?

Oddly shaped Coca Cola bottles.

Huge Heineken bottles on the top.

Their cheese selection was amazing.

At the Eiffel Tower, it sparkles on every hour for 10 minutes. Fortunately for us we saw the sparkle.

Ooh.. sparkly

It’s actually quite beautiful and a memorable experience to see it sparkle.

We set all of our stuff down and had a picnic with bread, cheese, pate, and meats.

Discussion under the tower about random things.

I’m not buzzed in this photo hehe. Just making a recording.

After the Eiffel Tower we took some pictures by arc d’trimophe.

The Louvre at night.

Near Notre Dame, we saw they had some weird stuff set-up with a big tv in the background where we think they might have been playing the Roland Garros matches during the day.

We saw a korean bbq advertisement on the Seine River. Weird.

Ben wanting to be the robotic green mouse.

Weird steam thing.

By the time we got back it was already around 2am. The next couple pictures are of Melody’s Apt.

Her place was super nice with plenty of legroom to stretch out.

The kitchen was a nice size also WITH a washer/dryer in there.

Unfortunately when we came in, we made the entire place a mess.

Rob and I slept on an air mattress where if we moved it made squeaking noises so I tried not to move as much as possible.

Melody’s room.

The bathroom. What is interesting about Parisian restrooms is that the toilet is in a separate room.

which is.. here.

We ended up sleeping at 3am where the train the next morning to Amsterdam took off at 6:24am. Let’s just say we were running when we woke up..
