euro trip 2008 - day 2 - paris
June 18th, 2008 by shinzu
After a near 30 hour day the night before, we ended up waking up at 12:30pm. We stayed at Melody’s place which was near Luxembourg. The major point of interest near her was the Pantheon (which you see here).
We were heading to Notre Dame, and wanted to find some sandwich place to eat at. We chose to go in Pomme de Pain.

The temperature was pretty good considering it was June. It was hazy outside with the threat of some rain.
We first went into Notre Dame.
This is actually my second time to Notre Dame so I could spend the time just to enjoy the church. As usual, everything looked majestic.
On the top of Notre Dame like many of the Catholic churches have many extravagant stain glass panes.
Afterwards we proceeded to Museum d’Orsay. Here you see a court.
Scenic picture of the Seine river.
I didn’t see this on my trip 3 years ago, so I’m guessing you can now rent bikes in Paris.
We arrived at the Museum d’Orsay where luckily we still can get reduced fare going in.
The museum isn’t as big as the Louvre, but it is still one of my favorites.
From 3 years ago, it doesn’t look like the major artwork has been rotated out of the museum. However there were some new galleries.

We saw a rhino statue outside, and played black and white on how would take an embarrassing picture of who would hold the balls of the statue. Here you see the loser of the game hehe.
We knew the Louvre was closed today, but we still took pictures anyways.
We went to the gardens outside of the Louvre to take pics
Apparently, there is a spider infestation problem they are trying to deal with.
Poor Ben. Probably will die of a heart attack after he is done with the park.
I’m panicking over the spider monster while the others are nice and calm about it.
A really retarded spiderman pose.
In Paris there are three arcs. This is one of them.
I got so excited when I saw this because I would be going the next day!!!
Statue video review - Ben and Dan
We went to go get some food where for some reason they had two competing food cart vendors right next to each other.
Hot dog in a baguette. Only in Paris…
The rest of us got crepes. I got a nutella crepe which was really yummy. The nutella in Europe isn’t as sweet as it is here.
With Peter’s cellphone I was calling a friend to meet up for dinner who used to live in the states.
We started the Champs Elysees walk which begins at Concord Place.
Champs Elysees is basically like a big shopping strip
This is my FAVORITE store in Europe. I would later go back to buy some stuff.
Mc D. I can’t believe we export this crap overseas.
We saw a Peugeot dealership with f-1 cars. Peugeot is a very popular European car brand.
Video games are pretty much universal.
My car in Paris. (Honda Accord).
A foreign embassy at the end of the strip.
The walk ends at Arc d’trimophe. Which is the big thingy in the background.
For dinner we went to a place Melody chose. Le Bistro d’Henri.
Left to right: Antoine, Ben, Melody, Me, and Peter. I used to work with Antoine back in the states (he is a French citizen).
It was so great catching up with Antoine and Melody. Both of them are very worldly people who are easy to speak to about anything.
Video of the restaurant
We ordered a bottle of wine Antoine liked.

We then went to meet up Lee (another old colleague) at the Frog’s Bar. It was sort of weird because the bar was literally dark with the lights turning on now and then with loud music.
