youtube obsession

the youtube obsession

Only a couple months ago I heard about this fledging called youtube.  Now you know its popular when you start relying on it to look for information.

I honestly think youtube is going to be one of those things that will start to change the flow of power in our world.  And if you think about it why.. its nothing that revolutionary.

Youtube is a site that holds a bunch of videos.. but two things have really created its success.
+ easy access
+ easy embedding

The easy access element deals with simply clicking ‘play’ on a video on a site.  Note that if there was a link you probably would be less likely to click the link than you would be to click the play button.

For some reason, no one every thought about making videos easy to embed.  It’s as simple as using object tags.

Besides the awesome japanese games and bizarre things going on in most videos, there are a lot of political rants, videos of war, and snippets of tv shows which provide the public more information to make more educated decisions about who we vote for or what we believe in.  Here are a couple I thought were interesting.

net neutrality

Net neutrality is a pretty big discussion in Congress whether to charge companies more money for different types of traffic flowing through the net.  So like if you had a movie, isps would be charged more for that type of heavy traffic.

In this movie, Jon Stewart does a great job in higlighting clips on how uninformed Congress is.  The scary thing is that you know how you can make someone look stupid by extracting only clips of someones statement and misrepresent it?  In this case, I don’t think anything is misrepresented…

stupid congressman

This video pokes fun over the congressman’s statement over gta.  In here, they state that the ‘congressman’s feelings were hurt.’

jon stewart owning crossfire

Jon Stewart slamming crossfire.  You can tell how Jon carefully chooses all his words to make his point and manages to insult the crossfire hosts.
